Langley Lodge is a complex care facility owned and operated by the not-for-profit Langley Care Society. We have been in Langley for over 35 years, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of our residents – seniors and those with disabilities requiring care 24 hours each day. All of us – staff, management, family and volunteers – are people caring for people. This makes the focus of our efforts the residents themselves. We are always striving to provide the little extras that maintain the dignity of our residents, while also making each day interesting and enjoyable for them.
Our major project at this time is the expansion and complete renovation of our facility. This will provide single accommodations for our residents, instead of the current double occupancy. It will also bring our facility up to the ‘state of the art’. At a time of an increasing need for care for seniors, and of increasingly complex medical care for those senior, it will prepare Langley Lodge to serve seniors in the Langley community for many years to come. We are truly building for the future.
The basic housing and care needs of the residents of a facility such as ours are provided by the British Columbia health system. At Langley Lodge, we seek to provide the extras to enrich their lives, through a variety of programs: music, horticulture, outings, pastor care, physical and occupational therapy, animal visits, arts and crafts, …. In addition to our dedicated staff, we have many volunteers of all ages who work with and for our residents. As a not-for-profit society, we fundraise on an on-going basis to maintain the many extra programs we offer.
The residents of Langley Lodge – seniors and those with disabilities requiring care 24 hours each day – deserve more than just the basics. All of our citizens in complex care do. We need to provide them with dignity as well as care. We need to provide them with a quality of life. As a community, in Langley, we can and should do this! Show that you care! How can you help us, and help our seniors? You can volunteer your time – become one of our many volunteers, working directly with our seniors or working behind the scenes to support our programs. You can offer your financial support – donate funds to support one of our programs that provide a quality of life for our residents or to support our efforts in general.
I believe that Langley Lodge is a special complex care facility – it is a Langley facility dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of Langley seniors and those with disabilities. Through the support of the community, our staff and our volunteers, we can and do make a difference in the lives of our residents.
